oh you mean the "understanding". yes its sometimes very difficult and it is also difficult because one word has 2 or 3 meanings. I am an english teching student on the university and dont worry we "the non-english speakers", we all have the same problems :)) --> by the way have a nice holiday.

I work a lot with people from different countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Portugal... I can tell you that people from the Germanic country speak English very fluently but latin people have usually more difficulties. It seems that the sounds used in Germanic languages are closer to English language sounds. An other possible explanation is that there are more American series and movies that are shown on TV without translation. So kids get used to English language very early.
