Joss dans une interview a avouer ceci: "Chosen required some editing to keep the historic adventure within its running time, and a few moments were lost. "I definitely had to do some hack and slash," confirms Whedon. "They were small edits. My favorite one would probably never have made it to air anyway. It was Principal Wood and Giles sharing a joint right before they go into battle, or as I referred to it in the script, a hand-rolled cigarette. That was shot and not aired. Tony sort of went through a thing with it. He has daughters and he talked with his girlfriend, and then he decided 'Oh, what the hell, this is funny.' We did a version with tiny airport bottles of whiskey, but we did one version with the joint."

Dans Chosen, ils ont fait beaucoup de montage et de coupure de scène car l'épisode s'avèrait trop long et une des scènes couper se trouvait a être Giles et Wood se fumant un join avant la bataille dans l'école secondaire. Ils ont aussi fait une 2e version où ils s'échangaient une petite bouteille format aéroport de whiskey (achool fort pour les ignorants!)
